Workshop Schedule
October 7th - From Classroom to Client Care: Mastering Everyday PSW Challenges
Register NowThe transition from PSW training to client care can feel overwhelming when real situations don't match textbook scenarios. Clients may have unrealistic expectations, resist care, or present multiple urgent needs all at once, making it difficult to provide support the way it was taught in school.
This highly interactive workshop helps new PSWs develop practical strategies for managing common workplace challenges and find satisfaction in the meaningful work they do, even when conditions aren't ideal. Participants will leave with confidence-building tools for their new career.
November 26th - Professional Boundaries: Building Safe and Effective Client Relationships
Register NowCaring deeply about clients is one of the greatest strengths PSWs bring to their work - but knowing how to balance compassion with professional boundaries can be challenging for new graduates. Without clear boundaries, both PSWs and clients can be at risk for emotional burnout, dependency, or inappropriate relationships.
This interactive workshop helps new PSWs understand why professional boundaries matter, recognize common boundary challenges in healthcare settings, and develop practical strategies for maintaining caring yet appropriate relationships with clients. Participants will learn how to set limits while still providing compassionate care, and how boundaries actually enhance rather than hinder the helping relationship.
December 11th - Empowering Independence: Supporting Client Capacity and Autonomy
Register NowEffective PSW care goes beyond completing tasks - it's about empowering clients to maintain and develop their own abilities whenever possible. This workshop explores the fundamental PSW principle of "doing with" rather than "doing for," helping new graduates understand how to provide support that builds on client strengths and promotes independence.
Participants will learn to assess what truly matters to each client, adapt their approach based on daily fluctuations in clients needs and abilities, and develop flexible support strategies that honor client choice and dignity. You'll discover how empowering clients leads to better outcomes and more meaningful relationships.
