This session will discuss age related changes in nutritional needs. Both changes in nutrients and caloric intake will be discussed, as will the role of lifelong preferences in dietary practices. The session will also focus on simple techniques the support worker may use to support positive client’s nutrition without major changes in the client’s diet.
This in-service workshop will help your staff:

This session will provide an overview of common special diets and dietary restrictions. Myths and facts with regard to each will be covered. Impacts on ingredients, preparation and storage will be discussed, as applicable to the diet.

This session discusses the most common causes, signs, symptoms and risks of swallowing disorders the support worker may encounter. Techniques to respond to common issues will be discussed, as will those that require professional assessment and intervention.
