Managing Client Priorities When You Have a Job to Do
This in-service workshop will help your staff:
- describe what client-centred support is…and isn’t.
- identify the benefits of involving clients in their own support
- describe three methods of involving clients in their support and discuss when each method might be most appropriate.
- describe “bridging” client needs and support plan priorities and demonstrate ways in which the participant can use this technique to provide more tailored support.
Client-centred support is what we’re supposed to be about, but how do you balance client needs with the list of tasks you’re supposed to get done (with often so little time to do them!). This workshop will describe three methods you can use to involve your client in what you’re asked to do, tailor your support to the client’s preferences as much as possible, and meet what the support plan requires of you. Bring your questions – this is an interactive workshop developed specifically for front-line direct-care workers!
