Achieving Triple Aim Results in Home and Community Support

As Home and Community Support plays a greater role in Ontario’s health system transformation, government and other funders have been placing more focus and scrutiny on the sector’s quality outcomes. In the future, community organizations are going to be held even more accountable under the Excellent Care for All legislation. Building on the success of OCSA’s Quality Advantage program, we’ve developed a premiere one-day workshop where you will gain the tools and strategies required to accelerate your leadership efforts to achieve Triple Aim results — better health, better care, at lower cost — for the clients you serve.
Using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI’s) recently published white paper as a framework, you’ll learn the components of High-Impact Leadership and discuss practical examples that showcase how leaders have successfully implemented recommended strategies and actions to achieve impact. Your workshop leaders are Michael Pugh (IHI High-Impact Leadership white paper co-author and the keynote speaker at OCSA’s 2014 Quality Improvement conference) and Paula Blackstien-Hirsch (improvement expert and OCSA’s Quality Advantage lead trainer). This is a highly-interactive session – you’ll develop an action plan that includes opportunities for your senior leaders to adopt leading practices to facilitate the achievement of better client outcomes.
Michael and Paula have customized this session specifically for Home and Community Support providers. The content is appropriate for senior leaders and managers at all levels who wish to accelerate the rate of improvement, innovation and performance in their organizations. No previous Quality Improvement knowledge or experience is required.
This workshop will not be repeated in 2015 – space is limited so please register early! For maximum benefit, organizations are encouraged to send 3-4 senior leaders and managers, including the CEO/Executive Director.

About Your Workshop Leaders
Michael Pugh is a nationally known advisor and consultant to health care providers, trade associations, technology companies and government organizations. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado Denver Business School Health Administration Program and in the Health Care Leadership Program for Mt. Sinai Medical School, New York. Michael is also a Senior Faculty member for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Leadership Faculty. Michael is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and is a co-author of the IHI published and highly popular white paper, “Seven Leadership Leverage Points for Organization-Level Improvement in Healthcare” and co-author of the recently published IHI white paper “High Impact Leadership: Improve Care, Improve the Health of Populations, and Reduce Costs.”
With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Paula Blackstien-Hirsch has led system level improvement initiatives provincially and nationally in the hospital and community-based sectors. Paula was formerly Executive Director for the Centre for Healthcare Quality Improvement, Senior Director with the Canadian Patient Safety Institute, Manager of Applied Research Projects at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, and is on Faculty at the University of Toronto, teaching in several programs focused on Quality Improvement. She developed and led the Executive Sponsor workshop for the Ministry of Health-sponsored IDEAS Program and has coached many Boards/Senior Executives on leadership strategies for improving organizational quality of client service delivery. For the past year, Paula has led OCSA’s Quality Advantage project.
Capacity Builders will refund fees, less a $35 administration charge, if we receive your cancellation in writing up to ten (10) business days prior to the date of the workshop. Cancellations received after that time are non-refundable. If the workshop is cancelled by Capacity Builders, the full workshop fee will be refunded.
